East Atlanta has a fascinating and significant history that illustrates how the residential and commercial development of our formerly agricultural region transformed the community into a commuter suburb. Our district also illustrates how desegregation, integration, block-busting, white flight, and gentrification in the mid-to-late twentieth century and early twenty-first century have affected the development of our neighborhood over time.
