Recycle EAV
Recycle EAV is an effort than began in 2009 to encourage residents and local businesses to recycle. Recycle EAV funds a weekly recycling pickup and overflow service for a discounted rate through Conex Recycling. Conex services nine 95 gallon bins for plastic, aluminum, and glass recycling in the 529/Grant Central parking lot in the Village, two bins at the Brownwood Park Recreation Center, and seven behind the Argosy in the EAV. Residents and businesses are encouraged to use this free drop off station. Recycle EAV pays for the recycling station through fundraising efforts and through the generous contributions of the East Atlanta Foundation grant program. There are numerous participating restaurants and businesses that recycle now due to this free program. Since it’s inception, Recycle EAV has recycled over 90 tons of material that would otherwise have entered landfills!
Kate Crosby has been a resident of East Atlanta for over 13 years, and was a bartender at the Flatiron for 7 of those years. She is now the Video Production Coordinator and staff video editor for CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. Kate founded Recycle EAV in 2009 and has managed the program ever since, which merged with the EACA in 2011.
