2005 Battle of Atlanta Day !
The 3rd annual Battle of Atlanta event is scheduled for July 23rd in the East Atlanta Village as well as elsewhere in the geographic area where the battle occurred. Please make sure to come down on July 23rd and July 30th to commemorate the annual recognition of the Battle of Atlanta. East Atlanta was the location of the fiercest fighting in the Battle of Atlanta, a pivotal battle that signaled the end of the Civil War. Come walk the site of this battle, enjoy walking and driving tours, and see soldiers from the era. Also it's your chance to get a taste of a vibrant diverse culture that is according to the New York Times "reaching the crest in what has been a steadily rising wave of cool."

The 2nd annual Battle of Atlanta event was a big success.
Over 120 attendees at the dinner gala at historic Meadow Nook, home of Colonel John B. Alston and over 100 runners participated in the 5K race while many enjoyed an afternoon in Brownwood Park listening to gospel singers and hearing stories from Union Civil War re-enacters.
There were also representatives in the park from East Atlanta, Kirkwood, Reynoldstown and East Lake promoting their neighborhoods. Capital City Bank sponsored a free cook-out for attendees. Chance's Gallery displayed historic images from the Civil War and East Atlanta while participating shops, restaurants and bars offered discounts.
