The Porch Press neighborhood newspaper is a non-profit corporation in its own right. It was founded by the three neighborhood organizations of Neighborhood Planning Unit W, which includes the East Atlanta Community Association. The purpose of the newspaper is to promote the neighborhood organizations, to provide news for and about the neighborhoods and to provide a platform from which neighborhood residents can voice their concerns. The paper is governed by a working board of directors made up of representatives from the neighborhood organizations. There are three board representatives from EACA. Each year, EACA elects --or reelects-- one board member to serve a three year term. The paper is delivered to all houses in the East Atlanta boundaries. A limited number of extra copies are available each month at East Atlanta Ace Hardware and the East Atlanta Branch Library. Current EACA Board Members are Henry Bryant, Genie Strickland and Glenn Morrison.
EACA has a committee of volunteers that meets or works individually each month to put out the paper. If you would like to volunteer to help then you are on the committee. Volunteer Opportunities include writing articles, typesetting, proofreading and monthly paste-up. For more information, call any of the board members. Volunteers are always welcome.
