Final Vision Plan

The final Vision Plan has been approved by the Steering Committee and will be posted shortly. Please come back soon to view the Vision Plan and offer feedback. The Vision Plan will be formally presented to EACA, SAND, and NPU-W community groups during regularly scheduled meetings in the month of May, with budget estimates and a prioritized list of projects for implementation.

Brownwood Park Vision Plan Process

The process for the Vision Plan has been extended through the Spring of 2006. The series of four public meetings (listed at right) offering opportunities for everyone to provide input with comments and suggestions have been completed, with feedback driving the main components of the new Vision Plan. Thanks for your input!

The final step in the Visioning Process is to generate an estimated budget for the approved scope of work shown on the Vision Plan, and create a prioritized schedule for construction. Park Pride is completing research for these items, and they will be presented along with the Vision Plan. Please come out to your neighborhood meeting(s) to view the new plan, give your input, and vote on it's approval in May.

Overview

The visioning process to create a new Vision Plan for Brownwood Park is nearing completion! An ad-hoc committee formed by EACA, consisting of volunteers and representatives from surrounding neighborhoods, has been working closely with Park Pride to guide the effort. Park Pride is a non-profit organization dedicated to involving the community in enhancing the quality of life through the protection and improvement of parks and green space.

Brownwood Park has been selected as one of the first to undergo Park Pride's Park Visioning Program. With this program, Park Pride facilitates community involvement and input to develop a Conceptual Vision Plan for selected City of Atlanta parks. This Conceptual Vision Plan will be used to help prioritize improvements, provide a framework for their implementation, and raise funds for the work.

No funds for implementing the new plan are included with the Visioning Program, so any construction of the plan will require securing funds from other sources. However, the City of Atlanta has approved an undetermined amount of bond-related financing for some of the work. These monies can and will be used as an incentive to raise further matching funds as fundraising begins.

This is an encouraging opportunity to envision Brownwood Park as a world-class greenspace, and your ideas and input are wanted!
