Garden Build-1st two beds are ready for the children to plant seeds

East Atlanta Strut-Callie Nix
Committee Meeting at Brannan Towers March 11, 2009 at 7:30pm
This committee is in need a Strut Coordinator, chairperson for Trash and Recycling and and chairperson for PR
The proposed date is September 19th
Georgia House Representative–Robbin Shipp
(General Assembly) Senate Bill 31 passed through House and Senate that allows Georgia Power to advance bill their customers for nuclear power plants
Georgia DOT-There is a proposal to eliminate the “elected board” of the Ga DOT to a Governor appointed board
Proposal to allow a statewide “homestead exemption” of $2,000
Proposal to raise the age that a juvenile can be treated as an adult

Slowing in Crime-5% increase
44 “Part 1” crimes-reduction in burglary and auto left, pedestrian robberies
UP 7% from last month
Police Report- APD Zone 6, Major Renee Propes
1252 Portland-Served search warrant and arrested 2 people on drug possession
Glenwood Pl arrest-recovered 52 items, only 11 items were traced back to their owners-Police suggest logging your serial numbers of your large ticket items; otherwise they cannot return your items to you if found or prove that the items are stolen to prosecute the criminals.
“Atlanta’s Finest” Calendar is now on sale to benefit an officer’s family in need-the cost is $15

Portland Crime activity-
Security Patrol-Sign up on website, all officers are off-duty Zone 6 officers
Crime is up during evening hours-Close blinds and turn on exterior lights at dusk
Kirkwood-East Lake community association is sponsoring a “Crime-Stoppers”
Event with vendors representing safety ideas to protect yourself and your home
April 1st- SAFE Meeting, community organized security patrol
Increase of car break-ins, don’t leave anything visible in your car at anytime
Atlantans Together Against Crime-Rally March 30th, 5-7pm Boulevard Heights

East Atlanta Business Association-Marc Takacs
Contracted with the Samaritan House to do monthly clean-ups on the first Tuesday of each month
1st Friday Program, in March partnered with East Lake YMCA
