Atlanta Police Dept. - Zone 6
Maj. Banda, Off. Kopacz, and Officer Jones of the mini-motor detail were in attendance. To report drug-related offenses or problems call the Zone at 404-371-5002 or e-mail the major at cbandaatlantapd.org. Recent drug hits netted 23 arrests: Nine on Bouldercrest, 10 on McPherson and four on Haas. Officer Kopacz will do speed monitoring on Ormewood, followed by radar. If 4x4's and Go-carts are spotted on the roadway, they will be ticketed, impounded and the parents ticketed. Regarding the beat redesign, Zone 6 may increase. Service calls and geographic area are the criteria. Possibly, Zone 6 may include some of the Thomasville and Morningside areas. Officer Jones has made contact with area businesses. He is encouraging businesses (and everyone) to report all crime - large and small. In response to a question, Major Banda responded that regarding car break-ins, the caller could request an officer instead of making a teleserve report. Call will be placed on low priority but an officer will come out. EACA requests that Officer Jones make regular run through Brownwood Park.
