Trees Atlanta – Andrew Walter
• Small group is working with Trees Atlanta to replace trees lost in the tornado. Expecting to plant 50-75 trees later this year. If interested in participating in this effort, contact landuseeaca.net.

DeKalb County Commissioner, District 3 – Commissioner Larry Johnson
•  Not up for re-election until 2010
•  Discussed drug card that is available for free for DeKalb County residents
•  Plans to hold Public Safety summit for Decatur, DeKalb County and city of Atlanta

Habitat for Humanity ReStore – Ayanna Reid
•  Brief review of the store’s purpose, which includes both collection and selling of home improvement materials, building materials, and home accessories.
•  Store hours are Wed-Sat from 9am – 4 pm.
•  Merchandise is deeply discounted and store is open to the public.
•  Coupons for 25% off were passed out.

B*ATL – Glen Satell and Henry Bryant
•  Update on all of the activities to commemorate the Battle of Atlanta

Spoon Thai Cafι – Sujaree Hewitt
•  Opening second location of Spoon at Ormewood Square in space formerly occupied by Salsa Havana
•  Will be several months before they are ready to open

Public Safety – Ed Gilgor
•  Brief presentation on ways to protect your home, including purchase of Strikemaster II.
•  Provided sign-up sheet for residents who would like to participate on Public Safety Committee

Police Report – Sgt Shimmel
•  Discussed a couple recent arrests and passed out photos of wanted suspects.
•  Crime is up throughout city but no specific statistics for crime in surrounding areas.

Crime Report – Jenny Murray
•  Crime is up in beat 610 by 69% YTD versus same period in 2007
•  Auto Larceny is up 174% YTD versus same period in 2007.
•  Burglary up 212% YTD versus same period in 2007.

Member Issues – Myron Polster
•  June Meeting Minutes were approved
•  EACA meeting minutes are available in weekly newsletter, at EACA meetings and on website
•  Trip to Braves game coming up on August 13th
•  Taste of East Atlanta will be held on July 17th from 5-8 pm.  See more at www.tasteofeastatlanta.com
•  New principal at Burgess-Peterson Academy is Ms. Robin Robbins.  Hope to have her at an EACA meeting in the next month or two
•  Volunteers needed to work on Educational information and choices for DeKalb County
•  Elections will be held next Tuesday, July 15th.  Runoff elections to be held on August 5th.
•  EACA grant checks presented to Sylvester Cemetery Foundation, Fitwit Foundation and East Atlanta Kids Club

NPU-W Report – Ed Gilgor
•  South Moreland LCI approved by city council
•  Next meeting is July 23rd at 7:30 at Martha Brown

DeKalb County Commissioners for District 6 – Kathie Gannon (incumbent) and Don Broussard
•  District 6 covers western half of county
•  Both candidates made statements and answered questions
•  George Maddox, the third candidate, was invited but did not attend due to an illness
