Burglaries have dropped dramatically
Large increase in car break-ins
Police Report-APD Zone 6 Major Renee Propes
Conducted a Clean sweep across Atlanta on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 over 200 Citations were issued and over 200 people were arrested
The “Court Watch” program provides support to keep our criminals in jail longer and the police encourage community involvement
Police officers are on bicycles patrolling neighborhood
EABA Update-Marc Takacs, EABA President (East Atlanta Business Association)
If you know of a new resident of the East Atlanta Neighborhood, inform them of the EACA meetings on the second Tuesday of each month and they will receive a welcome packet at their first meeting
Jazz Festival returning to Grant Park- EABA working with Anheuser Busch to sponsor an after festival event in East Atlanta. Also working on providing a shuttle to East Atlanta after festival to promote area restaurants.
Traders retail store is offering to sell furniture to our new firehouse at wholesale prices if they cannot raise enough money to furnish the new firehouse.
Farmers Market starting again May 8, 2009, 4:00pm-dusk
East Atlanta Beer Festival-Elena Kaplan
6th Annual EABF, Saturday May 30, 2009, location: Former John B. Gordon School, Pre-sale $25, $30 on-line, $35 at the door, 1:00-6:00pm, beverage included, food extra, register to volunteer on line starting Wednesday April 22.

Brownwood Rec Center Update-Jill Sieder, Exec. Director, East Atlanta Kids Club
22 of 33 recreation centers in the city of Atlanta have been closed
East Atlanta kids club is working with EACA to re-open the rec center
Corporate partner (Deloitte Consulting) is supporting renovations by offering funds and elbow grease at the rec center to expedite re-opening to provide classroom space on June 5, 2009.
Brownwood Park Vision Plan Update-Joanie Stovall, EACA Parks Committee Chair
Master Plan for the park was created and ratified through the community-NPU and Park Pride. Plan was presented again at the meeting to refresh community on the plan before construction begins.
The removal of the Dog Park as shown on the plans has been removed by a vote at the meeting. The plans for a dog park will be revisited at a later date to expedite the start of construction on the current plans without the dog park.
Entropy is volunteering their musical talents at the Earl as a fundraiser for “Friends of Brownwood Park.” $8 on-line in advance or $10 on-line, Thursday April 30, 2009
Earth Day in Brownwood Park
A grant has been obtained that will match the hours the community volunteers to clean up the park in the form of monetary funds.
September 3, 2009 is the 20th anniversary of Park Pride, 20 Parties in 20 of Atlanta’s Parks including Brownwood Park
Streetscape Update-Allen Johnson, Dept. of Public Works, City of Atlanta
Federally funded project
Phase 2 includes landscaping & street furniture
Funds are short and project has been modified
Citizens are concerned that the project has been scaled back significantly due to the GaDOT’s miscalculation of funds needed to acquire property right of ways.

Plans have been approved by land use and zoning with conditions attached.
EACA voted unanimously to approve the application of re-zoning and the use of current plans which were presented at the meeting
