Results from 2003 EACA Operational Planning

Recently, EACA held an operational planning session. The following draft items surfaced as the top priorities in the meeting and will serve as benchmarks for committee work. However, feel free to take on the issue that interests you most if it is not on this list. Stay tuned for a full report at the March Meeting that will contain a comprehensive list of operational priorities.

  • Create structure to report public safety, zoning and beautification complaints
  • Create East Atlanta Park Trust/Conservancy
  • Work with Southstar to list available business property
  • Acquire Financial Software/Filing System
  • Establish "the Dirty Dozen of East Atlanta"
  • Establish strong relationships with PTAs and Principles
  • Provide Strong liaison with MARTA I-20 Corridor Study
  • Prevent removal/ disfiguring of street trees in East Atlanta
  • Membership Directory and Quarterly Update
  • Create New Member Packet
  • Consolidate EACA records
  • Schedule regular neighborhood clean-ups
  • Establish Graffiti/Illegal sign task force
  • Establish policy on single-serving alcohol containers
  • Adopt mini-parks and plan features
  • Create a communications chair
  • Focus on Pedestrian and Crosswalk Safety
  • Improve Moreland and Flat Shoals Interchanges
  • Plan for large neighborhood park (using existing vacant land)
  • Village Parking and Striping plan
  • Recruit volunteers for Neighborhood Deputies program (volunteer zoning/codes enforcement)
  • Create East Atlanta Traffic Calming Plan
  • Update Website Monthly
  • Organize system of mini-neighborhood associations in East Atlanta
  • Brainstorm for Old Kroger Building
  • Work with Merged Elementary School
  • Create Tutoring program for area elementary students
